FUGITIVES WANTED FOR
MURDER ARRESTED IN APPLE VALLEY, CALIFORNIA, BY FBI FUGITIVE
TASK FORCE
Two of three men wanted for a July 2006 murder in El Dorado,
Arkansas, were arrested in Apple Valley, California, this morning
by the FBI’s Fugitive Task Force, announced J. Stephen
Tidwell, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI in Los Angeles.
In July 2006, three men are alleged to have forcibly entered
the residence of victim Courtney Morris in El Dorado, Arkansas,
disguised and carrying handguns. Upon entering the residence,
Morris was shot and a second victim was assaulted before the
perpetrators fled the residence in a vehicle. Morris later
died as a result of his wounds.
Kirk D. Traylor, Derrick Lee White and Marchallo D. White
were identified by police as the alleged murderers and charged
by the state of Arkansas with homicide and aggravated assault
on July 20 th, 2006. Detectives with the El Dorado Police Department
determined that the subjects had fled the state of Arkansas
shortly after the murder. Agents in the FBI’s Little
Rock Field Office filed a federal warrant on July 28 th, 2006,
in U.S. District Court in Arkansas charging both Whites and
Traylor with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP).
Investigators determined that Marchallo White and Kirk Traylor
had been residing at family member’s residence in Apple
Valley, California, near Victorville. Both fugitives were taken
into custody this morning by the Los Angeles Fugitive Task
Force, which includes Agents with the FBI and Officers with
the LAPD. Deputies with the San Bernardino Sheriff’s
Department provided support during today’s arrest.
It is anticipated that the government will dismiss the federal
UFAP charge and that White and Traylor will be extradited to
Arkansas to face prosecution. Derrick White, who is the cousin
of Marchallo White, is still at large.
