FBI TO HOST TOWN HALL MEETING THIS SUNDAY – 11/19
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
The FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office,
in partnership with members of the FBI’s Multi-Cultural
Advisory Committee in Los Angeles, is hosting a town hall meeting
on Sunday, November 19 th, 2006, announced J. Stephen Tidwell,
Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI in Los Angeles. The
meeting will be held from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at the Brookhurst
Community Center, located at 2271 West Crescent Avenue in Anaheim,
CA 92801. The purpose of the meeting is to provide a forum
wherein the FBI can address issues of public concern and answer
questions posed by members of the community in an informal
setting.
The Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee (MCAC) was formed to
create an environment in which relationships are formed based
on mutual respect and understanding, and through which dialogue
is facilitated, between the community and the FBI. The FBI’s
responsibility in upholding the Constitution and civil rights
of American citizens is better understood through the channels
of communication that exist through organizations like the
MCAC. MCAC, which will co-host the meeting, includes members
from the following organizations:

All citizen groups are invited to participate in the meeting
where attendees can learn and will be encouraged to ask questions
about the various types of matters investigated by the FBI,
including; Counter-Terrorism, Public Corruption, Civil Rights
and Hate Crimes, Internet Crimes and Identity Theft, Crimes
Against Children, Gangs & Organized Crime. In addition,
attendees will have the opportunity to research a career with
the FBI and to recognize the difference between fact and myth,
as it relates to the FBI as an agency and how it enforces the
laws of the United States.
The media are invited to attend the town hall meeting; however,
no still or video cameras will be allowed in the Community Center
during the meeting.
