MAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF LARGE AMOUNTS OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHIC IMAGES AND VIDEOS

A Brea man was arrested Tuesday for illegal possession of numerous pornographic images and videos of minors, announced J. Stephen Tidwell, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI in Los Angeles. Theodore Allen Jedinak, 55, was taken into custody on Tuesday, September 26 th, at a family member’s residence in Chino, California, by members of the FBI’s S.A.F.E. Team in Orange County, and Officers with the Brea Police Department.

According to an affidavit in support of a federal search warrant executed at Jedinak’s Brea apartment, Jedinak had been engaged in the initial stages of a relationship with an individual he met online at a website known as “Silverdaddies.Com. The individual, identified only as a Cooperating Witness (CW) in court papers, was shown by Jedinak, without solicitation, multiple videos of minors engaged in sex acts, according to the affidavit. According to the CW, Jedinak had categorized the child pornography by race in files located on his computer desktop. The CW discontinued the relationship with Jedinak and reported the child pornography to authorities with the Brea Police Department, who then contacted the FBI.

Jedinak was indicted by a federal grand jury in Orange County on September 13, 2006. Jedinak was afforded an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana on Tuesday and was denied bail. Jedinak is being held in federal custody in Santa Ana and will be arraigned on the charges on Monday, October 2 nd.

This investigation and Tuesday's arrest were conducted by officers with the Brea Police Department and the FBI's SAFE Team in Orange County, which is comprised of agents with the FBI, deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and officers with the Huntington Beach Police Department. Officers with the Chino Police Department and agents of the California Department of Justice provided assistance during Tuesday’s arrest. This case is being prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office in Orange County.
