FUGITIVE WANTED FOR MURDER IN WASHINGTON STATE AND CALIFORNIA

The FBI and local law enforcement in Washington State and California are seeking the public’s assistance in locating John Wayne Thomson, the subject of a federal warrant issued in Washington State Wednesday, charging Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution. T homson is wanted in connection with the murder of Lori Hamm, of Longview, Washington, and the disappearance of James Ehrgott, an elderly man from Spokane, Washington, who was reported missing under suspicious circumstances in July. Based on preliminary investigation, police believe foul play was also a factor in Ehrgott’s disappearance.

The San Bernardino County District Attorney issued a murder warrant today for Thomson’s arrest in connection with the murder of Charles Headlund, a man who recently went missing under suspicious circumstances and whose truck was found in San Bernardino, California.

Thomson has an extensive criminal history including three felony convictions for rape. Thomson was recently seen in Riverside County, California, but may have fled the state or the country.

Thomson is a 46 year old white male with gray hair and blue eyes. He is 5’9”, weighs approximately 200 pounds and has multiple scars on his face and body, and multiple tattoos on his arms and leg. Thomson has spent a large part of his life in jail and in a psychiatric hospital and generally lives a transient lifestyle. He is a known methamphetamine user and may try to find work doing construction or odd jobs. In addition, Thomson has been described as articulate and as having the ability to charm others.

Investigators in Washington State and California believe Thomson is armed and extremely dangerous and urge that anyone with information about Thomson’s whereabouts contact their local FBI or local law enforcement agency as soon as possible. In Los Angeles, the FBI may be reached 24 hours per day at 310 477-6565.
