CAPTURED:
On August 7 th, 2006, two employees of a local newspaper
witnessed and thwarted an attempted carjacking by John
Wayne Thomson and made a citizen’s arrest.
The men held Thomson until Sheriff’s deputies arrived
at the scene. Thomson faces murder charges in Washington
state and California.
FUGITIVE
WANTED FOR MURDER IN WASHINGTON STATE AND CALIFORNIA
The FBI
and local law enforcement in Washington State and California
are seeking the public’s assistance in locating
John Wayne Thomson, the subject of a federal warrant issued
in Washington State Wednesday, charging Unlawful Flight to
Avoid Prosecution. T homson is wanted in connection with the
murder of Lori Hamm, of Longview, Washington, and the disappearance
of James Ehrgott, an elderly man from Spokane, Washington,
who was reported missing under suspicious circumstances in
July. Based on preliminary investigation, police believe foul
play was also a factor in Ehrgott’s disappearance.
The San
Bernardino County District Attorney issued a murder warrant
today for Thomson’s arrest in connection with
the murder of Charles Headlund, a man who recently went missing
under suspicious circumstances and whose truck was found in
San Bernardino, California.
Thomson has an extensive criminal history including three
felony convictions for rape. Thomson was recently seen in Riverside
County, California, but may have fled the state or the country.
Thomson
is a 46 year old white male with gray hair and blue eyes.
He is 5’9”,
weighs approximately 200 pounds and has multiple scars on
his face and body, and multiple tattoos on his arms and leg.
Thomson has spent a large part of his life in jail and in
a psychiatric hospital and generally lives a transient lifestyle.
He is a known methamphetamine user and may try to find work
doing construction or odd jobs. In addition, Thomson has
been described as articulate and as having the ability to
charm others.
Investigators
in Washington State and California believe Thomson is armed
and extremely dangerous and urge that anyone with information
about Thomson’s whereabouts contact
their local FBI or local law enforcement agency as soon as
