MULTIPLE
VIOLENT FUGITIVES WANTED BY FBI AND AUTHORITIES
IN SAN BERNARDINO AND CHICAGO RETURNED TO U.S.
Three
fugitives wanted from the San Bernardino and Chicago areas were
returned to the United States today from Mexico City based on
federal warrants charging each with Unlawful Flight to Avoid
Prosecution (UFAP). The fugitives were flown under FBI escort
from Mexico City to Los Angeles International Airport, and were
then transported to the jurisdiction in which they were charged.
Hector
Miguel Aguirre, 23, was returned today after spending more than
two years in a Mexico City prison. In March 2002, Aguirre was
charged by authorities in San Bernardino, California, Superior
Court with the December 2001 carjacking and murder of Hannah
Jordan, a 54 year old female. Jordan was buying donuts for a
local civic function and had just returned to her vehicle, according
to investigators with the San Bernardino Police Department,
a member of the FBI's Inland Regional Apprehension Team (IRAT).
Investigators allege Aguirre fatally wounded Jordan with a firearm,
pulled her from her car, and left her to die. Once investigators
determined Aguirre had fled to Mexico, a federal flight warrant
(UFAP) was issued on 5/16/2003. Aguirre was arrested in Mexico
City on January 20, 2004.
Additionally,
two subjects of federal arrest warrants issued in Chicago were
returned this afternoon to the United States. Roberto Ramirez
Vasquez, 26, wanted on state charges of murder in Chicago, and
Farhad Hakimi, 50, wanted in connection with narcotics violations
in Chicago, were returned from Mexico City today on a flight
to Los Angeles. Vasquez and Hakimi were then flown under escort
to Chicago where they will be turned over to state authorities.
The
successful return of these fugitives is a result of a joint
effort by Mexican law enforcement authorities, Officers with
U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the FBI in Los Angeles and
Chicago, as well Agents with the FBI's Legal Attache in Mexico
City.
